Mannequins are everywhere.
We happened to ride out of Meat Cove at the same time as Timo and company. We stopped at Singing Pebbles beach, on the recommendation of a women from Lincoln that we met at Normaway. She said that the rocks on the beach are perfectly round, and that it makes a great sound. We got there when the tide was lower than the rock ridge, so the singing rocks were taking a set breaks. We took a cable ferry at Englishtown, and then took the Marconi Trail to Louisbourg. It was nothing to write home about, especially compared to the riding we had already done. The roads are in terrible shape compared to many of the other roads in Nova Scotia. The camping options in Louisbourg weren't great, so we doubled back to Mira River provincial park. The provincial parks seem to always be a great bet. The campground was nice, and the facilities were modern and clean.
There is not much to see in the town of Louisbourg, but the museum was pretty neat. It is a reconstructed fort similar to Williamsburg--complete with reenactments in every house. |
